The Grooviest of Judys...

If you've heard me tell my comedian origin story you've heard the name Groovy Judy pop up. Judy and I met way back in the late 90's through our mentor, the godfather of indie music, Tim Sweeney.

As I was starting to dabble in the dark arts of laughter, Judy was dipping her toes in that water too. She's got a great sense of humor, but the tie dye and paisley was calling her back.

See, Judy's a child of the 1960's even if she's not old enough to be. A wicked guitarist billed as "Jimi's Sister", she's got the music of the Woodstock generation running in her veins and has made a great career of it.

I've always loved her dedication to Love, Peace, and Rock n' Roll.

Way back in 2004 Judy told me she'd heard about a comedy music show at the Hyena Theater in San Francisco and said I should try to get a spot on it.

That simple little referral and my willingness at the time to play anywhere, anytime, was the launch of a new phase of my artistic career. The very first time I was booked as a "comedian".

(I have audio of that first show somewhere in my archives. I'll have to find it for you.)

Since Judy played such a pivotal role in launching my comedy era, it's only right you see what she does too. So check out this performance of hers on the Bruce Latimer Show.

Now, throw up a peace sign and enjoy the rest of your day. :)
