New Track Sneak Peek

New Track Sneak Peek - My Personal Hell

Sneak peek at a new track...

I'm working on stockpiling a few new singles for 2024 before I get into releasing them so I can have an actual organized release schedule and plan. Shocking! Long term planning is a skill I've been working to improve. :)

So this is a VERY rough mix of "My Personal Hell". I'm not even finished tracking it completely yet. You'll hear a fairly blank section that still needs a guitar solo for instance. Nothing has been panned or EQ'd yet. And you'll hear some off key notes in the temporary scratch vocals plus some lyrics I still need to replace with better ones. Part of the 1st verse is totally jacked up and needs to be fixed.

Creativity is a messy process, my friend. :)

You may recognize this song from my "Do You Believe In Tragic?" album - It's the last cut from that. But as always with those short songs, I'm looking for stuff that I think has more to it.

And after recording the sort of country-ish version on that album I really wanted to hear a punk rock version. The chord changes are an old gospel music progression I've always liked. So I kind of view this one as "what if Rancid did gospel music?"

One more little fun fact. When I started the track I just laid in a simple kick/snare drum pattern to lay out the arrangement. I noticed one hit out of place, went to fix it, and accidentally moved all the kick drum hits over by a beat.

Didn't realize it until I played it back and then thought "That's way cooler" and left it. :)

Sometimes little mistakes like that become the thing that elevates a track.

And now you'll be able to compare this to the final version when it comes out to see all the changes I made.

Here's a picture of me recording every song.

This is fine
